Healthcare is a new career field for me! Since 1997, I\'ve worked in sales and service. Beginning with inside sales with Bowflex, then outside phone sales with Sprint Business Communications, moving over to yellow page sales with USWest Dex and eventually inside sales with USWest (landline/DSL/wireless), I even sold projectors over the phone for InFocus Corp, and then the crash of 2007 happened. We all lost our jobs at the phone company. I decided to obtain my BA in Linguistics with a focus on teaching English as a 2nd language. I obtained my TEFL certification and was provided the opportunity to work with immigrant farm workers and teach them English. In return, they helped me with my Spanish! I was motivated to choose Linguistics for a very personal reason. I moved 17 times before the 9th grade. Imagine, attending a new school almost every 6 months. I became an expert at introducing myself and change is something I adapt to naturally. I learned the importance of education, cultural differences, and how the whole world is connected through language.While in college, I was a DSART Advocate (Domestic Sexual Assault Response Team Advocate) who reported to domestic violence 911 calls with law enforcement and EMT responders to provide assistance to the victims (emergency housing, transportation, companionship/emotional support, and access to services). This was part of my work study hours and I was so dedicated to the mission of the agency, I was brought on part-time. I also staffed the crisis line on the weekends. I was able to help callers who were suicidal or trying to escape a dangerous situation. The experience was one-of-a-kind but not the type of work I could do full-time. I gained a forever friend in my supervisor, Kathryn.When I left college, I was hired quickly by a virtual assistant company, Zirtural. They had Silicon Valley start up clients who needed vetted virtual assistants. I managed up to 9 clients at-a-time. Eventually, Zirtural went out of business and I transitioned directly to one of my clients, Arimo/AITOMATIC. The company was headquartered in Silicon Valley and Vietnam. I managed all the CEO\'s business/personal needs in addition to assisting the general team (Data Scientist) with recruiting and event planning. I loved recruiting so much, I left Arimo and went to work for Canvas Worldwide. I was their top recruiter for two years. Due to personal reasons, I decided to transition away from recruiting into the healthcare field.
