Dr. Wickesberg is an audiologist and a Certified Listening and Spoken Language Specialist. She received her Bachelor of Science in Speech-Language Pathology from Oklahoma State University, her Master of Science in Audiology from UNT and her Doctorate in Audiology from the University of Florida. Dr. Wickesberg served as the Interim Executive Director at the Center for Hearing and Speech from 20••••19. As the Director of Audiology at THI, she continues to specialize in both fields with a focus on CIs, as well as listening and spoken language milestones for children identified with hearing loss. Her audiologic clinical interests relate to electrophysiology, speech acoustics and cochlear implant outcomes for children. Her love of lyrics and literacy development has influenced her recent therapy focus to concentrate on music, highlighting this component as integral part of early intervention. Utilizing music therapy experiences as a vehicle to engage the entire family, she encourages a fun and motivating way to develop a child’s communication skills, building a strong neural foundation within the brain from infancy. Dr. Wickesberg secured the Center\'s ability to build the home libraries for all children seen at CHS, cultivating a love of literacy. Every child receives a new book at the end of their appointment that is based on their current levels of performance. Empowering parents and building a child’s ability to advocate for themselves one day remains her top priority. She shares her expertise both nationally and internationally, trains fourth-year Au.D. externs, as well as mentors other aspiring listening and spoken language professionals.She is certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and is a fellow of the American Academy of Audiology. She is a member of the Texas Academy of Audiology, ADA, and the Texas Speech-Language-Hearing-Association, maintaining an active role on the TSHA Business Management Committee.
