ABOUT JENNIFER THERRIEN

I am a bilingual partner in Gowling WLG’s Ottawa office. My practice focuses on insurance defence, commercial litigation, and personal injury. I represent a range of casualty and property carriers in diverse coverage, defence, and subrogated matters with a focus on claims arising out of bodily injury, property damage, product liability, errors and omissions, and professional liability. I am a dedicated and passionate civil litigator who aims to efficiently resolve disputes for my institutional and individual clients. I also have a robust commercial litigation practice involving complicated contract and mortgage disputes. I am not afraid to take on challenging positions while regularly keeping my clients informed of the strengths and weaknesses of their case. I frequently work with individuals in need of guardianship or other substitute decision matters and guide my clients through these difficult times with compassion and empathy. I thrive in the courtroom and have appeared before numerous tribunals and the Ontario Superior Court of Justice. I have successfully advocated (in English and French) for my clients on complex motions and trials on numerous occasions. I have a passion for musical theatre and performed in many productions throughout university and law school. This experience taught me the value of being prepared and well-rehearsed – qualities that I now apply to my work as a litigator.
