ABOUT JENNIFER SHULER
Jennifer Shuler is an acute care nurse practitioner working to combat the opioid epidemic for the state of Arkansas as the state opioid treatment authority. She completed her BSN at Arkansas State University in 2005 and her MNSc at UAMS in 2010. She joined the Arkansas Department of Human Services in 2018 as a member of the Substance Abuse Treatment team and serves as subject matter expert for medication assisted treatment for opioid use disorder. She serves as project director for SAMHSA grant funded program (E COVID grant) AR Connect, a free virtual mental health and substance abuse clinic with UAMS. She is involved in the Arkansas Nurse Practitioner Association board as a member at large. Jennifer believes that nurse practitioners are uniquely positioned to use their clinical skills and rapport to treat those with substance use disorders. In 2021, she was named a 40 Outstanding Nurse Leaders Under 40 in Arkansas by the Arkansas Center for Nursing. She has also been honored in AY magazine as a “Best Women in Healthcare” in 2020, 2021 and 2022.
