Management Responsibilities: Oversee a team of 7, ensuring that they understand expectations and delivery times, and step in to provide, support, answer questions, or conduct research on specific or complex applications. Examine and assess internal processes in order to identify areas where practices can be improved and enhanced. Assist in training new hires. Provide ongoing training to existing UW teams to ensure they stay current with the latest underwriting policies and procedures. Work directly with the business operations team to initiate systems upgrades to improve the efficiency of the team. Provide feedback to develop proper use cases and participation in testing. Handle higher level credit exceptions and loan amount exceptions that the UW team are not authorized to decision.Inform LA supervisor team of any changes in underwriting policies that would impact how the floor processes loan applications. Responsible for keeping the underwriting schedule up to date. Also approve all payroll, quarterly bonuses and conduct performance reviews with individual UWs. Underwriting Responsibilities: Review and verify income statements, bank statements and other financial documents to develop a borrower’s profile and arrive at a credit recommendation. Collaborate with loan advocates and assist them with verifying the accuracy of loan applications. Work directly with the loan advocate supervisor team to assist them in resolving credit escalations by providing timely replies to customers exceptions. Propose revisions to the credits limits on new and and existing customers. Manually review loan applications for customers who are unable to electronically provide bank history.Perform bank calls for new customers to confirm loans that are manually reviewed have legitimate transaction history.
