ABOUT JENNIFER SAX
A dedicated human services and public health professional with more than 13 years of experience, Jennifer Sax has been working at Good Shepherd Community Care for more than 10 years. A graduate of the University of Vermont in Burlington, Jennifer’s initial post-graduate career was as the Assistant Director of a 52-bed residential home for foster youth in San Diego, CA. After 3 years on the west coast, she re-located to Boston and began the search for a career change. Remembering her experience as a hospice volunteer while growing up in Portland, ME, Jennifer found a potential position with Good Shepherd an appropriate fit. She has been there ever since.Good Shepherd’s Director of Communications and a community educator for the past 11 years, Jennifer has written and spoken extensively to raise awareness about the importance of having “Conversations Before the Crisis” and the importance of end-of-life planning. She is a strong advocate for improving patient choice about end-of-life care options and the benefits of hospice care. Jennifer was instrumental pursuing agency accreditation by the National Institute for Jewish Hospice, has steered the organization’s Veterans Committee which led Good Shepherd to level 3 We Honor Veterans accreditation, and most recently headed up the organization becoming Open Door certified by the LGBT Aging Project of Fenway Health in Boston. In her non-work life Jennifer is a mother, a passionate cook and enjoys long walks around Castle Island in South Boston with her 1 year old daughter and Jack Russell Terrier.
