About Jennifer Robles Hernandez
I am an Honors student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, pursuing a double major in Biology and Human Development and Family Sciences, with a minor in Women and Gender Studies. My academic focus bridges the biological sciences and the social complexities of human relationships, providing me with a nuanced perspective on healthcare and the interconnected factors influencing individual and societal well-being.I am particularly passionate about women’s health, with a dedicated interest in obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN). My goal is to contribute to advancing equitable and comprehensive healthcare for women through both clinical and cultural approaches. With a strong foundation in analytical and critical thinking, shaped by interdisciplinary studies, I excel at synthesizing complex ideas and fostering collaboration. Writing tasks and group projects have honed my communication and teamwork skills, enabling me to engage effectively in diverse settings.Practical experience from internships, cultural extracurriculars, and work opportunities has deepened my ability to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world scenarios. These experiences have underscored the value of empathy, inclusivity, and innovation in healthcare. I am driven to explore the intersection of medicine, gender studies, and cultural contexts to improve healthcare outcomes, particularly for underrepresented communities. Through this, I aim to support meaningful advancements in women\'s health and OB/GYN practices.
Experience
Certified Advising Fellow
Dec 2024 — Present · US
As a Certified Advising Fellow, I support students, especially first‑gen, immigrant, and diverse communities, through some of the most confusing parts of the college process. I help students navigate FAFSA, financial aid, and scholarship searches with patience. I also work one‑on‑one with students to draft and revise personal statements, short‑answer responses, and program applications, ensuring their stories shine in their own voices. I was a high school fellow myself, so transitioning from being a mentee to a mentor has been extremely beautiful.
