ABOUT JENNIFER NAPIER

As well as enjoying case management (advising on sickness absence, Equality Act and adjustments), my interests include clinical leadership, quality improvement, health promotion and wellbeing at work. I enjoy being the lead doctor for the coastguard rescue arm of the Maritime and Coastguard Agency. I am a FOM-approved HAVS tier 4 specialist, an HSE appointed doctor for lead, asbestos and ionising radiations, and an OEUK registered doctor, as well as having several years of rail medicine experience as an ORR approved doctor. I bring organisational consulting and coaching skills (ILM5 qualified) to protecting and promoting the health and wellbeing of individuals and organisations, and am currently preparing to become an educational supervisor. I see workplaces as a key setting in which promoting health and healthy lifestyles can contribute to both human wellbeing, and a greener future by avoiding preventable disease and the unnecessary use of healthcare resources. I established and chaired the Society for Occupational Medicine Leadership group, creating a regular programme of webinars, a mentoring pilot, and a research programme through which we are formulating leadership standards for OH clinicians.During the Covid-19 pandemic, I led the development of a rapid access pathway with the aim of offering organisations advice on fitness for work and adjustments. My background includes 14 years\' experience as a GP, GP appraiser and consultant to GP practices on staff wellbeing, quality improving and clinical leadership. My former academic research focused on the wellbeing of the medical workforce which has resulted in several peer-reviewed articles. I have also authored 2 reports for the Society of Occupational Medicine regarding wellbeing at work:
