Oversee sixty-five FTE’s and daily operations of forty-bed adult inpatient unit with average daily census of thirty, and average of sixty admissions per week.Managed twelve-bed inpatient surgical overflow floor and flexed staffing and operations to surgical census.Recruit and train fourteen RN FTEs in collaboration with Nursing Professional Development.Organized and facilitated unit-based pilot of ten-week peer-led review course for RN’s to obtain medical/surgical certification. Wrote and presented Peer Study Group project poster for MSHS Nursing Research Day 2023.Conduct formal stay interviews to promote RN engagement and retention. Collaborate with Orthopedic Surgery physician dyad partners to develop patient care improvement projects including but not limited to implementation of OR Observation program for unit staff to observe surgery cases, night huddles with PA’s and nursing staff, and annual Orthtoberfest educational in-service. Results include employee engagement scores in the 97th percentile on the 2022 Employee Engagement Survey, and increased patient satisfaction scores from 20••••23 in the Key Indicators of RN Communication (+11 points), Teamwork (+8points), and Responsiveness (+10points), with scores in the 99th percentile in February and August 2023. Implemented admissions nurses to expedite admission flow from the PACU and ER. Oversee nursing component and collaborate with Orthopedic Surgery team to secure accreditation without findings in 2023 TJC Total Joint Survey for Hip and Knee Replacement surgeries. Participant in LEAN process improvement lab at MSHS Continuous Improvement Academy.
