ABOUT JENNIFER TURNER

I am a China policy analyst with 25+ years of leading research, dialogues and writing on environmental, energy, climate, and food policy issues facing China and the United States. At the Wilson Center, I built the China Environment Forum (CEF) into a trusted, non-partisan platform for environmental and climate dialogues to inform policy stakeholders in the US, China, and Southeast Asia. I have extensive experience in fundraising and managing the production of multimedia blogs, photo essays, briefs, infographics, and films that expand the impact and reach of policy research projects. Together with the fabulous team at Circle of Blue, I co-produced the Global Choke Point multimedia reporting project on the growing confrontation between energy and water use in China, India, and Tamil Nadu. Our China reporting helped catalyze the creation of a U.S-China Water-Energy Technology Program in the 2014 U.S-China Climate Agreement.More recent projects I launched include: Cool Agriculture, digging into the opportunities to cultivate US-China climate cooperation around food; co-producing the Plastic Pipeline educational video game; and a research initiative to tap voices from developing countries on China’s investments into clean energy overseas. I have worked as Senior Editor for all of CEF’s publications and have particularly enjoyed working with authors from around the world who wrote on China for the New Security Beat blog. I received a Ph.D. in Public Policy and Comparative Politics in 1997 from Indiana University, Bloomington. My dissertation dove into local government innovation in implementing water policies in China and I infused it with quite a few puns on water.
