As the leader of the Elevance Health Public Policy Institute (PPI), I direct and oversee the development and execution of data-driven health policy analysis and health services research for the company. The PPI team works to shape and inform the public policy discourse and drive thought leadership through the publication of timely, relevant research and insights. Our work spans current health policy issues including Medicare Advantage, Medicaid, affordability, health equity, social drivers of health, payment and delivery innovations, prescription drugs, mental health and substance use disorders, digital health, and commercial health insurance. In this role, I work with my team to conceptualize and oversee development of policy papers, data briefs, data analysis, journal articles, presentations, and other research projects that contribute new insight to the policy debate; convene and engage with internal and external experts to leverage research findings in policy and strategy development; and partner with academic researchers to advance the body of knowledge on important policy issues. I also am responsible for ensuring and directing a robust communications strategy, across earned, owned, and social media, to amplify and promote the findings from our work. I also represent Elevance Health externally including as a member of the Health Affairs Council on Healthcare Spending and Value and member of the Indiana University Kelley School of Business, Center for the Business of Life Sciences, Industry Advisory Board; among others.
