About Jennifer Ford
I\'m a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in Charlotte, NC with demonstrated history and experience working with clients across the lifespan in a variety of treatment settings. I\'m also licensed in VA and WI as a Licensed Professional Counselor and LMHC in VT and FL, providing counseling via telehealth for clients in these states. The majority of my counseling career involves experience in inpatient hospitals, residential treatment facilities, crisis stabilization and acute care management, and as a school-based mental health therapist. Recently, I made a change to outpatient/private practice to have more opportunities working within my niche. I am trained in TF-CBT, EMDR, and Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders through Postpartum Support International. I specialize in working with adult women anywhere along the reproductive journey. I provide care for women struggling with postpartum depression and anxiety, birth trauma, ambitious working moms, navigating the return to work, relationship difficulties and family conflict, and supporting women and families in the transition to motherhood. My passion for working with mothers developed after my own lived experience with perinatal challenges. I experienced the difficulty navigating the healthcare system, despite having medical and mental health knowledge. As a survivor of birth trauma, I have experienced systemic racism firsthand. I now work to advocate for maternal rights, improve birth outcomes for moms, reduce racial disparities in healthcare, and and reduce the stigma associated with perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. I\'m passionate about mental health, maternal wellness, and social justice reform. I view being a therapist as a privilege, and I am honored to have the opportunity to walk the care journey with each of my clients. I can honestly say that I love what I do, and my drive to impart change in the world keeps me going everyday. I also love connecting, consulting, and collaborating with other clinicians, providers, and workers in this field. We all have so much to contribute, and I appreciate, value, and respect all the efforts of other providers.
