ABOUT JENNIFER DORNBUSH

I grew up around death”. The television or movie screen is the closest most people will ever come to witnessing the forensic world, but I was raised in it. As the daughter of a small-town medical examiner whose office was in my home. There were body parts in our fridge. I investigated my first fatality, an airplane crash, when I was 8 years old- picking up pieces of skull with my father who simply saw it as an anatomy lesson. The first of many coroner lessons I experienced over two decades. Despite (or maybe in spite) of all this, people say I have a great sense of gallows humor. The somber experiences of my childhood propelled me to my current mission of shedding hope and light on the dark recesses of the human experience. After exploring journalism and teaching high school for a few years, I turned seriously to screenwriting where I began to connect my coroner world to my writing. I soon sought out a degree at the Forensic Science Academy in Los Angeles to gain more forensic training and earn a unique kinship with LA’s top CSIs, fingerprint specialists, DNA scientists, and detectives. To share my love of forensics with the writing world, I authored the top selling non-fiction authoritative book, Forensic Speak, used by not only by show-runners and writers, but also crime investigators and law enforcement. But my bread and butter has always been writing. As a screenwriter I am currently adapting my Coroner’s Daughter book series for TV with Lifetime. I\'m working on fellowship with Story Incubator to scribe an historical TV series. In the past, I have penned the theatrically released film AND novel, God Bless the Broken Road; developed TV drama series with multiple production companies; adapted a popular YA novel to script and created & sold a children’s show.As a novelist, I am publishing three new novels with Blackstone Publishing. Adapting my true crime thriller, Hole in the Woods for HETV. Blackstone releases the audiobook version 5/22. I\'m also the contributing author on the 2022 release of the mystery anthology, Hotel California. And the 2024 mystery anthology, Thriller. As a forensic specialist, I travel internationally speaking and teaching on crime writing, screenwriting, content creation, and forensics. Above all, I believe in the importance of community and connection and giving back. I\'m member of the Writers’ Guild of America, Sisters in Crime, Mystery Writers of America, FBI Citizen’s Academy Alumni, and Act One Alumni.
