About Jennifer A. Jolley
Jennifer A. Jolley has taught secondary social studies for three decades. In January 2022 she began a new journey as the Secondary Social Studies Content Specialist for her district. From 2014 to 2022, she taught at Palm Bay Magnet High School, a STEAM school located on the Space Coast in Melbourne, Florida. Throughout her career, she taught a range of social studies subjects including Advanced Placement courses—U.S. Government and Politics, Comparative Politics, U.S. History, and World History. In 2020, she was named the Florida History Teacher of the Year by the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History. In 2013, she successfully obtained renewal with the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards. She was named a James Madison Fellow of Florida in 2010, awarded the honor of Broward County FL Social Studies Teacher of the Year in 2006, and Brevard Public Schools Social Studies Teacher of the Year in 2016. She has received educational fellowships to the United Kingdom, Turkey, Germany, Mongolia, and to many historic locations within the United States. She has traveled in Latin America, Asia, and Europe and lived in Japan and Colombia. Currently, she serves on the the Teacher Advisory Board (TAB) for the National Constitution Center, on the Bill of Rights Institute National Teacher Council, a iCivics Educator Network member, and a Transatlantic Outreach Program (TOP) Trainer Specialist. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from Flagler College in Social Sciences and Philosophy/Religion and a Master of Arts in American History and Government from the Ashbrook Center at Ashland University, in Ashland, Ohio. She is member of the Florida Council for the Social Studies, Florida Humanities Council, Florida Historical Society, and the National Council for the Social Studies. When she is not teaching or traveling to conferences or weekend seminars, she enjoys saltwater fishing and going to the beach.
