ABOUT JENNA WHALEN

I\'m a dedicated and successful association professional with over a decade of experience in membership, volunteer management, event planning and implementation, and helping members connect and build relationships with their peers while also gaining skills to help their career. I\'m upbeat, energetic, and handling difficult situations with grace through resourcefulness and adaptability. I\'m passionate about connecting others to their peers, organizations, and communities along with creating great experiences.Graduating with a Communications degree I never imagined I would find myself in the CPA world. Yet, here I am working at the Indiana CPA society where I combine my communication skills and my new accounting knowledge. As the Membership Manager I oversee the annual individual membership renewal process and prospective member program I revitalized. While individual members are my focus, I don\'t forget CPA firms and organizations! I also oversee our100% Membership Organization Program. Our membership also includes six Member Sections with over members in them combined. I oversee the renewal and recruitment of these along with planning around 36 educational opportunities for them annually. Throughout my career, I\'ve also worked in volunteer management and events. For ten years I oversaw our annual volunteer process which consisted of recruiting, retaining, and recognizing around 150 volunteers each year. I\'ve also planned a variety of events ranging from a small networking breakfast for 10 people to our annual awards dinner with around 500 attendees.Before landing in my current job, I worked as a server at an Irish pub. I feel this helped greatly helped my communication, creativity, and problem-solving skills. If I can reason with a drunk person at 1 am on a Saturday, I can reason with anyone.When I\'m not working, I can be found hanging out with family and friends or leading a small group of 6th grade girls at my church. I also enjoy reading, making recipes from my favorite cookbooks, catching up on Bravo shows, and exploring the new bars and restaurants popping up around Indy.
