ABOUT CHRIS JENKINS
It took me a few years to develop a professional path after graduating from college. Then I became a Success Coach at a mission-driven organization supporting college students to overcome obstacles to graduation. Looking back, I feel very fortunate that I spent so much of my early career at a company focused on coaching and helping people achieve their goals. Being in an environment that fostered a sense of purpose, feedback, communication skills and a growth mindset built the foundation of my leadership framework. I was initially hesitant to move into management, until I started managing a few people, and saw how similar it was to coaching. To me, both coaching and management are about people. By the time I left InsideTrack, I was leading our largest teams and account of over 50 FTEs and 30 part-time employees…and I loved it. I developed and implemented a new strategy and operating model and we were able to consistently improve our service results, our YoY operating margin by 20.6 percentage points and employee job satisfaction. I am proud of not only all we accomplished, but what those on the teams have gone on to do since. After completing my MBA, I went to Gartner as an executive advisor in their technology research. Initially I felt like a complete impostor, but became a sought-after resource and top performer. I found success because I leaned into a growth mindset and sought the feedback and help of so many talented and generous colleagues. Then, only a few years after feeling like an impostor in tech, I was leading four global IT teams at Salesforce that identified and drove numerous high-impact, cross-functional initiatives to enable scale. I wouldn’t have thought I could do any of my recent roles just a few years prior. I’ve enjoyed them all and built so many close relationships in the process. I believe above all, this is due to investing in people and a focus on continuous learning and growth. I\'ve developed a very diverse skill set I continue to grow, but where I thrive the most is building and leading high-performing, collaborative teams that maximize their strengths to create exceptional results and build enduring relationships.
