ABOUT JENICE PRATHER-KINSEY

Jenice Prather-Kinsey is an accounting academic seeking a public service position expressing the voice of her constituency and consulting service positions in the development of a university\'s accounting curriculum (especially CPA Evolution). She was previously Professor and Sallie W. Dean Scholar in the Department of Accounting and Finance (ACFN) at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) and an Associate Professor in the School of Accountancy at the University of Missouri. She is an active Certified Public Accountant (CPA). She received a BS from Lindenwood University, a Master of Accounting Science from the University of Illinois (Urbana-Champaign), and a Ph.D. in Business Administration, majoring in Accounting from the University of Alabama (Tuscaloosa). She teaches intermediate, international, and cost/managerial accounting. She has published in top-tier accounting journals including Accounting Horizons, Accounting Organizations and Society, Contemporary Accounting Research, European Accounting Review, Journal of International Financial Management, and Accounting and Strategic Finance. She has presented her international accounting research on every continent of the world except Antarctica and published over 30 blind-refereed journal articles in accounting. She is currently serving on the editorial boards of the Journal of Managerial Issues and the South African Journal of Accounting Research. She has served the profession in numerous capacities including President of the American Accounting Association\'s International Accounting Section, Global Board member of the IMA, PwC National Advisory Board, and Faculty Advisor to NABA\'s student chapters at UAB and the University of Missouri. Moreover, she has served her community as a Financial Consultant and Bible Study Group Leader at Church of the Highland in Birmingham, President of Greystone Ladies Club, Board member of Delta Inc. and Maranathan Academy in Birmingham, Treasurer of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority in Columbia, Missouri-Alumnae Chapter and Gaming Commissioner for the state of Missouri. Finally, her more notable awards include Outstanding Member in Education from the Missouri Society of CPAs, Outstanding Educator Award from the national office of NABA, President’s Diversity Award from UAB, maintenance of AACSB Accreditation as Chair of Accounting at UAB, and faculty advisor when NABA\'s UAB student chapter received the national “Best Chapter Award.\" She is married to Reginald Kinsey and has two sons, a daughter-in-law, one grandson, and one granddaughter.
