ABOUT JEN MCCUTCHEON

Jen serves as the elected Director for Metro Vancouver\'s Electoral Area A (EAA). She is highly engaged in her community, and passionate about contributing to a more sustainable and environmentally viable future. She has more than 15 years of expertise in project development and management, strategic planning, monitoring and evaluation (M&E), quality improvement and building organizational capacity. Throughout her years in global public health, she has provided technical assistance and managerial oversight to multi-million dollar projects aimed at strengthening health care systems in numerous countries across Africa. Jen’s capacity development work spans the individual, organization, and government levels, and she has co-developed tools to measure capacity development of organizations and governments. She is a strong facilitator and has led M&E and sustainability trainings for staff in sub-Saharan Africa, the US and the Caribbean. She has also taught graduate-level courses and classes at universities in Canada and the US. Her doctoral research included an evaluation of a community quality improvement approach in rural health facilities in Ethiopia. Prior to her work in public health, Jen practiced as a Physiotherapist in Canada, India and Honduras. As an example of her global health work, Jen was the Deputy Director for M&E on the PEPFAR-funded DREAMS Innovation Challenge project. This project worked with 46 organizations across 10 African countries to decrease vulnerability of adolescent girls and young women to HIV. Jen provided management and technical oversight and support in program development, implementation, and M&E to the 46 organizations, as well as oversight of 10+ staff.
