Heart failure affects more than 26 million people worldwide. Patients with heart failure are initially maintained on drug therapies, but drugs do not stop the progression of the disease. The progression of heart failure results in a 50% mortality rate within 5 years of diagnosis. Avery Therapeutics is developing a revolutionary new technology that has the potential to stop the progression of heart failure and improve patients’ quality of life. Avery’s lead product, MyCardia™ has demonstrated improvements in cardiac blood flow, systolic function and diastolic function in pre-clinical models at levels that would translate to a significant improvement in quality of life for patients.
