ABOUT JEN PEARCY-EDWARDS

I am a freelance director with a particular interest in new writing and devising, exploring narrative and telling stories through film and theatre. My partner Robin Guiver and I created Corvus Pictures in 2016, where we have focused on creating short films and promos for non-profit companies. I recently returned to the US after living in London; I have been based in Ithaca, NY since 2023. Directing credits in the US include Kate Hamill\'s Ms. Holmes & Ms. Watson, Apt. 2B at the Hangar Theatre; and Baba Yaga and Peter and the Wolf, which were devised by me with the cast at the Cherry Arts. I will be directing FEAST at the Kitchen Theatre in May 2026. My background is originally as an actor - I trained at the College of Santa Fe in New Mexico, where I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Acting. I then moved to New York, where I spent 3 years collaborating with fellow graduates on Square Peg Theatre Company, which focused on new writing, as well as touring the tri-state area performing with Poko Puppets. I then spent a further two years in western New York, touring across the US with Das Puppenspiel Puppets and puppeteering in their repertoire of primarily bunraku-style shows. In 2005, I moved to London to pursue my post-graduate degree in the Lecoq-based devised theatre pedagogy at the London International School of Performing Arts (LISPA). I established Infectious Theatre in 2008, which has primarily been a vehicle for developing ideas, including our devised adaptation of Darren Clark\'s novel, Raven Boy.Other directing credits include working with Abbey Wright, assisting on The Notorious Mrs Ebbsmith for Primavera Productions and doing movement direction on her company Tackroom Theatre\'s production Martyn Hesford\'s The Glass Supper at The Hampstead Theatre (Downstairs), starring Michelle Collins and Alex Lawther. Puppetry work in the UK includes work on feature films Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, The Secret Garden, Tom and Jerry, and David E. Talbert’s Jingle Jangle. Puppetry in theatre includes collaborating on two different projects with Seonaid Goody and Aurelian Koch for the London Sinfonietta\'s Blue Touch Paper Project, as well as being part of the original devising cast for award-winning shows The Fantasist (Theatre Temoin) and Mile End (Analogue). The other element of my work is based in community also enjoy working as a facilitator for adults and young people, collaborating with organisations like Ambassador Theatre Group and universities, as well as schools and other settings with children.
