About Jen Gray

Throughout my 20+ year career I\'ve found my \'knack\' and have fully embraced it. What might that be you ask? Solving hard problems. Engineering turned out to be my perfect fit. Imagine that any challenge in front of you is a puzzle being solved, piece by piece. That is what brings me to work every day, finding those puzzle pieces and revealing the finished masterpiece. I haven\'t climbed the career ladder straight up in one direction, I\'ve scaled it left and right as I rise. This is intentional. I want challenges for myself that utilize my technical knowledge/skillsets and people leadership capabilities. While I\'ve been in a formal leadership position, I\'ve led three different teams with different technical specialties to success. How do I define success? Moving the needle, through trust and respect. Yes, there is a way to motivate a team to exceed expectations and continuously move the needle. There is no whip. There is no carrot. There is trust. There is respect. I\'ve mastered this recipe through effective 1:1\'s and mentoring. As a result, I\'m seen as a fair, consistent and firm leader who takes the time to listen and give constructive feedback to help my team be successful. No one likes to make mistakes, more so in an industry where a simple mistake could cost the company Millions of dollars. We learn from our mistakes. I\'ve guided teams to master the skills of model based problem solving, driving to root cause of issues and implementing solutions to eliminate the issue from ever surfacing again. I\'ve taken my teams a step further to identify and implement preventive actions for any potential issue that may surface - looking at every aspect of the process (human, method, machine). It works, and we\'ve seen huge successes as a result.I will continue to build and develop my career in leadership. I will work for a company that challenges me. I will continue to push for excellence with a growth mindset.
