ABOUT JEN TOWNSEND

Jen Townsend is an Educational Consultant with expertise in Social Emotional Learning Differences including Autism Spectrum Disorders. She works in collaboration with school districts to build capacity for educating all learners through professional development, coaching, systems change and personal reflections to support this success. Jen is also a resource to families and community providers supporting individuals with social emotional learning differences. Jen demonstrates high quality knowledge in a manner that values and appreciates educators, families, children and other community members. Jen has a Master’s in Education from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland and received a postgraduate certification in Autism Spectrum Disorder from Johns Hopkins University. She holds a special educator license in Wisconsin and has completed coursework for her Director of Special Education and Pupil Services license and has extensive certifications in methodologies used to promote success for individuals with social learning differences. Jen\'s work can be found across the state of Wisconsin as well as Nationally through collaborative work with individuals, schools, districts and community partners. She supports various professional conferences locally as well as nationally to promote the use of best practices for all learners by encouraging social emotional well-being, multi-tiered systems of support, universal design for learning and others to create opportunities for all learners to access, engage and express themselves in their own learning. Jen connects nationally with the National Autism Leadership Summit (NALS) and the UDL-Implementation and Research Network (UDL-IRN). Jen is the author of Think Differently! An educators approach to appreciate what works, a contributor to A spectrum of solutions for clients with autism, and is a co-author of SEE-KS, Social Emotional Engagement Knowledge and Skills as she continues to collaborate with educators to promote an appreciative inquiry approach with engagement in learning.
