About Jen Akeroyd

As the co-founder of SUTUREGARD Medical, I am passionate about developing and commercializing innovative wound closure devices that improve patient outcomes and increase health system efficiencies. With a PhD in Nursing Science from Oregon Health and Science University, I have a strong background in clinical research, public health, and healthcare management. I have also published multiple articles on the experiences and challenges of faculty of color in nursing education, reflecting my commitment to diversity and inclusion in the healthcare sector.At SUTUREGARD Medical, I have been involved in every aspect of the product development and launch process, from ideation and prototyping to regulatory approval and marketing. I have also established and maintained strategic partnerships with key stakeholders, such as surgeons, hospitals, distributors, and investors. Thanks to our team\'s hard work and collaboration, we have successfully brought our products, the SUTUREGARD® ISR Retention Suture Device and HEMIGARD System, to the market, and received positive feedback from customers and industry experts. Our device enables surgeons to close high-tension wounds with ease and speed, reducing the need for skin grafts or flaps, and enhancing wound healing and cosmetic outcomes.
