My personal and professional passions are equity, inclusion, and accessibility. As the son of a Japanese immigrant, I know firsthand how this work can create opportunities for systemically-excluded and institutionally oppressed communities. As a disabled Army combat veteran, I also have lived experience of multiple forms of oppression, and that intersectionality helps guide my work.I have 17 years of local government experience in equity, public engagement, communications, crisis communications, and equity work, with 10 years of federal service in the military as a broadcast journalist and combat correspondent.My diverse professional experience in anti-discrimination, inclusion, writing, public affairs, graphic design, copywriting, social media, event organization/coordination, training, and media outreach complements my equity work. I\'m a dedicated leader who builds positive, productive relationships with staff at all levels by recognizing the importance of teamwork.
