About Jeffry Martin

With a mission to provide all students an excellent education, Jeffry teaches middle school ELA at Osborn Middle School. He leads professional development, performs teacher evaluations, and participates on the school\'s leadership team as a mentor teacher.After receiving his B.A. in Political Science from Purdue University, Jeffry joined Teach For America as a Phoenix Corps Member in 2011 and quickly fell in love with the diverse Phoenix community. During his TFA experience, he earned Osborn\'s Point of Pride Award and earned a Master’s in Secondary Education from Arizona State University. Jeffry joined the Osborn Middle School Leadership Team as a TAP Mentor Teacher in 2014 to continue working relentlessly to interpret data, problem solve school-wide issues, and consequently increase student outcomes. In 2015, he refined his effectiveness in instructional coaching as a Corps Member Advisor and mentored incoming TFA Corps Members during their summer training. As a CMA, he honed his ability to coach new teachers by analyzing classroom dynamics, evaluating teacher performance, and providing feedback to improve instructional practices. In 2017, Jeffry collaborated with Osborn School District leaders to revamp the Structured English Immersion model at the middle school level. Throughout these experiences, Jeffry has taught over 720 students in 7th grade literacy and led the 7th grade literacy team to achieve the highest proficiency scores in Osborn School District on the AZMerit state assessment in 2018.Jeffry is one of five recipients of the ASU & Teach For America Alumni Education Leadership Fellowship in 2018 and will be graduating with a Masters of Educational Leadership by May 2019. Jeffry believes that education has the power to change lives and that strong relationships cultivate a positive team atmosphere to drive outcomes. To broaden his impact beyond the four walls of his classroom, he is seeking a school leadership role to generate systematic changes.
