Mercy has two hospitals in Bakersfield for convenient access to quality health care. Founded in 1910 by the Sisters of Mercy and situated in downtown Bakersfield, Mercy Hospital Downtown is licensed for 144 acute care beds, including a 31-bed medical unit, a 31-bed surgical unit, a 31-bed telemetry unit, a 29-bed guarded care unit and a 20-bed adult ICU. Mercy Hospital Southwest is 78-bed facility adjacent to California State University includes a respected Family Birth Center, which features an 18-bed labor delivery recovery postpartum unit (LDRP), an 11-bed postpartum unit, and a 9-bed NICU. Mercy Hospital Southwest also includes a 43-bed Medical and Surgical Unit. Mercy Hospital Southwest is the only acute care hospital west of Hwy 99. It boasts a 14-bed Level II Emergency Department, an 8-bed ICU along with 10 tele beds, and 6 operating rooms.

ABOUT JEFFRY ARMADA
Jeffry M. Armada is a versatile Healthcare Operations Leader who leads multimillion-dollar projects within for-profit and non-profit organizations. He has been recognized for his keen ability to blend financial fluency and data analysis skills to devise breakthrough solutions to complex business challenges, while building and directing cross-functional teams. Jeffry’s expertise spans the full range of the operations leadership function- from strategic planning and process improvement to facility expansion, cost containment and service line redesign.Since earning an MHSA in 2012, Jeffry has achieved rapid promotion and progressive management experience. During his tenure with Mercy Health in Cincinnati, he advanced from Administrative Fellow to Director/Assistant Administrator for The Jewish Hospital, a 209-bed community facility, where he brought innovative solutions to optimize patient registration, laboratory services and telecommunications. In 2017, Jeffry leveraged his operations acumen as an internal consultant for Hospital Corporation of America (HCA). In this role, he designed and executed strategies to improve length of stay, patient throughput and business processes at medical centers in Missouri, Texas and California. In 2018, Jeffry transitioned to HCA’s Capital Division where he was selected to be the Assistant Administrator of Henrico Doctor’s Hospital, a 340-bed community hospital in Richmond, VA. In this role, he had oversight of seven ancillary and clinical support areas, initiated and implemented leadership changes to elevate overall performance of five departments, realize cost savings and sustain top quartile Press Ganey patient experience scores.In 2021, Jeffry had accepted the role of Assistant Chief Executive Officer of Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, a 412-bed community hospital located in northeastern Pennsylvania. In this role, he had responsibility of eleven clinical support and ancillary departments and lead the service line growth of neurosciences, radiation oncology and wound care. Currently, Jeffry has accepted the opportunity as the Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Dignity Health Mercy Hospitals of Bakersfield.
