About Jeffrey Trzeciak

An accomplished administrator with more than 30 years of library experience in a variety of libraries including public and academic. For the past fifteen years I have held senior leadership positions including my current position as Executive Director of the Dayton Metro Library. In 2018 I was honored by the New Jersey Association of Library Assistants with their Recognition Award, an award that is given to Directors who show commitment to their staff and to staff development. I am even more honored to say my staff nominated me.As Director of Newark Public Library I launched a successful community-based strategic planning process with significant board, staff and public participation. Under my leadership the Newark Public Library has developed a reputation as “the place to be in Newark.” This past year alone I successfully secured a special allocation from the State of New Jersey through resolutions passed through the State Senate, State Assembly and, finally, the Governor’s Office. I also secured the largest corporate gift in the history of Newark Public Library,$2 million from Prudential toward capital improvements. Under my leadership in 2008 the McMaster libraries became the first Canadian recipient of the ACRL Excellence in Academic Libraries Award in recognition of our transformation and our adoption of technological innovations. In the 2004 Library Journal “Movers and Shakers” edition I was highlighted as “The Regionalist” for my efforts at bringing together Detroit cultural arts institutions.
