About Jeffrey Rodriguez Viaña

AI/ML Cloud Engineer | Agentic AI | Lakehouse & Vector SearchTwenty years in, and I’m still chasing the next hard problem. My career has been a steady evolution: C++ and Java backends in the early days, then Big Data platforms on Hadoop, Cloudera, and Hortonworks. At IBM, I led cloud security and cybersecurity initiatives. At Adobe, I manage enterprise-scale infrastructure and serve as the CI/CD backbone for my team’s services, keeping Ethos and Argo CD humming so deployments stay reliable from dev to production. Now I’m focused on what comes next—agentic AI that actually works outside the lab.I design and build autonomous AI systems: agents that reason, remember, use tools, and coordinate with each other to solve real problems. Not demos. Not experiments. Production systems with guardrails, observability, and the kind of reliability you only learn from years of 3am debugging sessions and petabyte-scale migrations. What I bring to the table:* Agentic AI design and construction, including multi-agent orchestration, ReAct patterns, memory systems, and tool integration* RAG and vector search across Databricks Lakehouse, PostgreSQL pgvector, and Neo4j* Deep Databricks expertise: Lakehouse, Lakeflow, Databricks Apps, Unity Catalog, MLflow, and Vector Search* Python-driven ML pipelines, APIs, and automation—plus roots in Java, C++, and SQL* Hands-on experience with LangChain, LangGraph, AutoGen, CrewAI, and FastAPI* Modern AI coding tools: Claude Code, Codex, Cursor AI, and Google Antigravity* Infrastructure that scales: Kubernetes, Kafka, AWS, Azure, GCPSecurity isn’t an afterthought for me—it’s baked into how I think, thanks to my IBM years. And I stay sharp by participating in Adobe’s Innovation Week, where I design and lead teams exploring emerging technology. Most recently, that’s meant agentic AI.If you’re building LLM applications, designing multi-agent systems, or trying to get AI into production without the chaos, I’d enjoy the conversation.

Experience

  1. Senior Software Engineer Sre

    Adobe

Apr 2019 — Present · San Jose, CA, US

As a Senior SRE with extensive experience in Datatabricks, I have worked on various cloud platforms including Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud. My expertise lies in automation scripting and the migration of infrastructure components (such as gateways and VMs) using Cloudera Hadoop distribution in both on-premises and Azure cloud environments.I have successfully developed the beeline-spark tool to aid Hive developers in transitioning their HQL into Spark SQL. Additionally, I have created automation Python scripts for Cloudera CDP Azure and developed Hashicorp/Artifactory Python applications. My experience extends to implementing efficient solutions in Kotlin microservices, Python, and Bash shell for service account creation and distribution of Kerberos Keytabs. This has significantly reduced the volume of service tickets related to Kerberos authentication. As the primary point of contact for Spark migration projects, I have overseen the migration of Hive to Spark and customer activities to transition customers\' use cases. Moreover, I have automated JupyterHub deployment using shell scripts and SALT.I have provided solutions based on the Apache Livy server to enable access to Jupyter, Zeppelin notebooks, and Hue. My work also includes implementing the automation of solutions and services using Configuration Management Systems, specifically SaltStack CMS and Twist Reactor.I have developed metrics gathering for Hive on Tez, Yarn, and Apache Spark using Apache Knox gateway. Currently, I am working on migrating from Cloudera CDH/CDP to Azure Databricks across various cloud platforms, such as Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud.
