After 21-ish years in customer service, I decided to try something completely different—aerospace. At Prime Air, my job is to establish a software certification program—ensuring that we have the plans, processes, and standards necessary to produce safety-critical software exceeding industry and regulatory expectations. In my first seven months on the team, I created a program to implement DO-178C in the vehicle software organizations, led the team from blank slate through a SOI-1 Planning review, and learned more than I can possibly describe.
