Jeffrey Gillespie is a gallery director, sales director, creative professional and arts investor with broad fine art and luxury brand experience. His professional focus emphasizes relational and motivational dynamics and organizational coherence in creative and arts-oriented companies. He is a gallerist, arts columnist, and fine art sales professional, with 27 years in the luxury sales industry - predominately in the visual arts space catering to VHNWI and UHNWI - with personal sales totaling in excess of $25 million. In 2011, working directly with Christo Javacheff, Cyril Christo, and Jonathan Henery, he sold a key seven figure work from the “Over the River” project by Christo to a private collector in Mumbai. He has directed sales at Nüart Gallery, has twice directed Gaugy Gallery, and has sold through Peyton Wright Gallery, GF Contemporary Gallery, Elizabeth Leach Gallery, Forum Gallery, CHRISTO Studio (Howard Street, NYC), Charlotte Jackson Gallery and LewAllen Gallery, among others. In 1998 he launched the American career of Russian realist Igor Melnikov at the Downey Gallery on Canyon Road. His private sales have included American paintings, drawings, prints and sculptures with an additional emphasis on Hard-Edge Paintings, Geometric Abstraction, Color Field, New Mexico Transcendentalist and Synchromism. In 2015, in addition to continuing with his fine art business relationships, he branched into professional reviewing of theater and visual arts. He has since written prolifically on the arts for the Newhouse family’s Advance Publications as well as for the Mail Tribune, Oregonian, and American Art Collector, among others. He has recorded audiobooks for Audible including “The Fourth Dimension of a Poem” by MH Abrahams available on Amazon. He lives in Santa Fe, New Mexico, where his hobbies include attending opera, running, investing, yoga, playing pétanque, and creative writing.
