Launching a biotech start-up to develop a platform used to discover new anti-metastatic therapies by capturing extremely rare Metastatic Cancer Cell Clusters from human whole blood samples. These rare circulating clusters are a major driver for distant metastatic lesions. Obtained a patent for our novel microfluidic chip based technology used to capture viable circulating metastatic cancer cell clusters from whole blood. Established research collaborations with Sanford Burnham Prebys, UCSD Moores Cancer Center, PhenoVista Biosciences and San Diego State University. Created a ‘Crowd funding’ campaign which rapidly raised funds to begin the microfluidic chip prototype development.
