Responsible for coordination of all risk identification and evaluation of activities related to City properties and operations. Assist City agencies in the development of programs to reduce potential losses. Work with the safety office to address employee safety problems and needs. Identify, evaluate, select and implement various risk transfer and risk funding mechanisms to reduce the City\'s potential for financial loss. Review all City contracts to eliminate the assumption of unnecessary risks and established limits for insurance and bonds to ensure adequate indemnification by contractors. Design appropriate insurance and self-insurance programs and determine types and limits of commercial insurance to be purchased to protect present and future City assets; and prepare specifications and negotiate with insurance brokers/agents and companies for the purchase of all City insurance. Allocate risk management division costs to City agencies to fund divisional programs and activities. Provide various types of training to City personnel and provide risk management consulting services to City agencies to impart knowledge on risk reduction measures; and coordinate citywide staff training. Administer civil claims and monitor litigation defense activities to reduce costs and develop knowledge of and correct City operational problems. Administer adjustment of claims under the City’s self-insured workers’ compensation program.
