ABOUT JEFFREY MORSHED

My professional journey has been informed by my desire to shape public and social sector strategies and policies focused on fostering robust and engaged civil society as well as open and equitable democratic institutions. At Democracy Fund, I have helped develop organizational and programmatic strategies aiming to create an inclusive, multi-racial democracy. I support the Just and Inclusive Society Program, in particular, in developing and executing multiple initiative strategies that address issues of migration, power building in communities of color, and organizing. Aside from strategy, I am responsible for learning and internal evaluation efforts that inform the work of the organization as well as our partners and grantees. With Monitor Deloitte, I have supported government, nonprofit, and philanthropic entities design strategies to improve governance and policymaking capabilities as well as respond to technological disruptions and evolving citizen demands. With the International Crisis Group, I have contributed to UN advocacy initiatives on conflict prevention and examined the socio-economic drivers of political conflict. Moreover, I have had the privilege of directly serving a low-income community as a teacher with Teach for America. These diverse experiences-which have taken me from urban, low income communities in the United States to rapidly developing cities in the Middle East and South Asia-have given me a unique perspective of the role government, philanthropy, and civil society could and should play in creating and sustaining democratic institutions. Along the way, I have developed expertise in strategy development, systems thinking, innovation methodologies, financial modeling, mixed methods research, project management, group/workshop facilitation, and teaching.
