Serve as financial controller for the $23B agency ($390M annual operating budget) responsible for worker’s compensation in Ohio through dedicated professional staff of 70. Responsible for financial activities for the insurance portion of the agency. Ensure premiums billed are collected, ensure cash remitted to the agency is tracked to the right policy account and other premium invoicing is completed.Oversee the distribution of benefits to Ohio’s injured workers ($110M per month). Successfully oversaw the transition of prepaid card benefits for injured workers worldwide to a new depository. Ensure thousands of required tax documents are completely and accurately communicated to injured workers and IRS.Responsible for the payment of agency payables, payroll and budgeting. Successfully oversaw the agency transition for 1600 employees to Kronos timekeeping from the existing system.Supervise the agency’s 300 fleet vehicles used for agency travel and surveillance for special investigations.Coordinate all financial reporting efforts for investment and general ledger functions. Ensure timely and accurate reporting is presented to Board of Directors and senior agency leaders. Oversee the annual financial audit of the agency and submission to the Ohio Office of Budget and Management for inclusion in the Ohio ACFR as a separate fund for the state.
