I bring years of national campaign and public advocacy organization staff experience to my practice, augmenting legal analysis with a deep understanding of political organizations’ operational needs. I advise clients on all aspects of federal and state political compliance law. This includes helping clients to comply with the Foreign Agents Registration Act, campaign finance, lobbying disclosure, ethics and gift rules, pay-to-play, and Federal Communications Commission political advertising requirements. Forming, reporting for, and maximizing PACs’ success are regular components of my campaign finance practice. I also advise businesses and nonprofits regarding IRS regulation of political activity and options regarding the benefits and restrictions of choosing one nonprofit form over others. In cases where the press or enforcement agencies question a client’s compliance, my role continues throughout the process to final resolution. I have represented Fortune 500 companies, labor organizations, leading trade associations, and individuals successfully in federal and state political compliance agencies’ enforcement proceedings.In recent years, my practice has expanded to cover new federal disclosure regimes. This includes counseling energy companies regarding compliance with the U.S. Agricultural Foreign Investment Disclosure Act (AFIDA) and companies of all types regarding the U.S. Corporate Transparency Act (CTA).
