About Jeffrey Dobereiner

I provide engineering and program strategy support to the leadership of NASA\'s Space Communications and Navigation program (SCaN), the essential connection to over 140 crewed and robotic missions. My responsibilities include serving as a senior advisor to the program manager, facilitating network reviews for Artemis II, and developing a new Mars relay. My interdisciplinary research experience and science communication background are my key assets for helping SCaN achieve its objectives. Program stakeholders range from astrophysicists, to senators, to international partners, each with their own professional language. I use my skillsets to ensure our leaders successfully communicate to—and understand perspectives from—everyone who impacts our mission. Before joining the space sector, I produced non-fiction television for networks including National Geographic, PBS, and Travel Channel. I also reported for the NPR podcast \"Radiolab,\" wrote for nationally circulated magazines including \"Sky and Telescope,\" and consulted for media organizations such as A+E Networks. As an archaeological scientist, I used chemical analyses, remote sensing, and years of field excavations to study ancient cities. I was awarded National Science Foundation funding for my research, and published in peer-reviewed journals including Antiquity, Journal of Field Archaeology, and Mexicon.
