MANAGEMENT/FUND DEVELOPMENT: Serve as first executive director of this nonprofit social service agency in Ohio’s seventh most populous county. Supervise staff of 29 and three locations. Oversee all administration and programming - including budgeting and reporting - of numerous efforts to benefit low-income families with special emphasis on self-sufficiency through employment and education. Built budget from in 1996 to more than $2.4 million through extensive grant writing and a diverse development plan. Gained visibility and credibility for agency through successful programs, positive media coverage and community collaboration. Programs under my direction have received 23 “best practice” awards from local, state and national organizations, including 19 from the John Glenn School of Public Affairs at The Ohio State University. COMMUNITY RELATIONS/TRAINING: Provided leadership to numerous community-based initiatives, including community health and transportation. Helped establish coalitions on housing the homeless in Middletown, child care and school supplies. Serve as “Internal Consultant” to the Ohio Community Action Training Organization; conduct strategic planning for other community action agencies and provide training on family development and other areas. Have become a lifetime certified trainer for Bridges Out of Poverty.
