Interviewer for the 2022 Indigenous Peoples Survey (IPS), Survey on the Official Language Minority Population (SOLMP), Labour Force Survey (LFS), Canadian Community Health Survey (CCHS), Survey of Household Spending (SHS), and Survey on Early Learning and Child Care Arrangements (SELCCA).Statistics Canada hires interviewers from time to time on a part-time basis to conduct a variety of surveys, some of which are on going (monthly, quarterly), while others may be annual or one-time only.The types of surveys conducted by Statistics Canada vary considerably, as do the methods of data collection. Some surveys are conducted by mail and telephone from regional offices and deal mostly with business establishments. Others, such as household and agriculture surveys, are mostly conducted by telephone or in person by interviewers working from their homes.Within Statistics Canada, the role of Statistical Survey Operations (SSO) is to carry out the collection of survey data for statistical programs. The interviewers are critical to the success of Statistical Survey Operations. Without their efforts in conducting interviews, collecting survey information, and obtaining the desired survey results, Statistics Canada would not have the diverse data required to analyze or disseminate.
