Jeff Kunowski is the Founding Director of SPORTx at Arizona State University (ASU), a cross-disciplinary initiative designed to unite sport, entrepreneurship, and innovation. Anchored under the J. Orin Edson Entrepreneurship + Innovation Institute, SPORTx accelerates venture development and empowers athlete engagement by connecting startups, student-athletes, and industry partners across ASU’s ecosystem.With over 14 years of experience in the sports and entertainment industry, Jeff brings deep expertise in product development, venue technology, sales and marketing, and corporate innovation strategy. He has held leadership roles at Panasonic, Southpaw Sports & Entertainment, and Planar Systems, and has served as a strategy lead for R/GA Ventures and continues to serve as a corporate innovation consultant for VentureFuel.At ASU, Jeff has led sport-related innovation efforts for more than seven years, supporting hundreds of early-stage ventures and directing millions in startup activity and funding. He developed the Student-Athlete Venture Studio in partnership with Empower by GoDaddy and co-founded SPORTx at ASU to serve as a launchpad for the next generation of athlete-led and sport-focused ventures.Jeff is an entrepreneur at heart, previously founding Illumin8 Outdoor Media, an award-winning venture funded through ASU’s Edson Entrepreneurship Initiative, and MK Solutions Group. He currently serves on advisory boards for organizations including: W.P. Carey Sports Business, Stadia Ventures, LEAD Venture Corporation, the Singleton Foundation, Comcast NBCUniversal SportsTech, and the Arizona Commerce Authority.He lives in Phoenix with his wife, Lianne, and their two children, Leo and Olivia.
