   The Arkansas State University System Vice President for Strategic Communications and Economic Development, reporting directly to the ASU System President, is responsible for facilitating all communications and economic development activities for the ASU System. Duties of the position include:• Developing and implementing an integrated statewide communications effort for the System that is consistent with the strategic priority initiatives of the ASU Board of Trustees and member campuses; • Managing media strategy and analysis for the System office and Board of Trustees and providing strategic advice and assistance to individual campuses;• Coordinating and drafting responses to legislative and media inquiries and providing assistance to system campuses regarding Freedom of Information Act responses;• Developing issue papers, strategic initiative documents, and legislative analysis documents aimed at influencing public policy proposals;• Developing and coordinating an integrated marketing effort for the ASU System and campuses to ensure that successes and developments of the system are effectively communicated to the media, policymakers, and the general public;• Providing leadership in engagement with statewide and local business and industry and related entities to promote economic development by developing strategic partnerships and strengthening the linkage between higher education and economic development activities;• Assisting with campus-specific economic development efforts, such as the Delta Economic Development Center, by developing statewide partnerships and activities which enhance campus activities;• Serving as ASU System liaison to statewide business associations and economic development entities to facilitate partnerships and communication with the campuses;• Coordinating ASU System efforts to recruit and maintain relationships with students, alumni and business constituencies.
