About Jeff Gahan

I’m an engineering leader who leads high-performing teams, builds lasting partnerships, and delivers top-tier production support, security, SRE, automation, deployment, and incident management across the US, Europe, and Asia. Over two decades, I’ve reached Yahoo via acquisitions of Advertising.com > AOL > Oath > Verizon Media > Yahoo through start-up phases, pre-IPO, and acquisitions and mergers. I’ve had the opportunity to hold several roles, launching my career at a start-up, Advertising.com. My interest in networking and security grew, as did my responsibilities supporting the corporate networking and security infrastructure, and then transitioned my work to supporting the production advertising infrastructure. Layoffs on the horizon: I moved to a system engineering role, which led me to a principal tech lead role. With my leadership ability, I moved into people management. Over the years, my scope and team grew to a global team of 5 managers and 40+ engineers, securing and ensuring the infrastructure processes 220+ billion daily ad requests while maintaining low latency across multi-region AWS environments.My hands-on roles span system administration, network and security engineering, production engineering, and leadership, providing me with experience in team development, coaching, mentoring, and successfully delivering security and technical initiatives. I have worked through several cloud migrations, scaling platforms, security hardening, cost optimization, and acquisition integrations for onboarding and offboarding. Our initiatives have resulted in over $12 million in AWS consolidation and cost savings, as well as a UI built on CICD tooling for full transparency of deployment status, improving velocity and partnership. As a bonus, I am an awesome, fun guy to work with! I develop relationships into long-standing partnerships built on trust and honesty. Under my leadership, I encourage prioritizing team cohesion, breaking silos, and solving problems, which ultimately create a solid teamwork culture. My focus on innovation and efficiency has successfully delivered and maintained high-revenue platforms.My commitment to operational excellence extends beyond technical achievements; I emphasize career growth with business alignment, ensuring our team remains highly motivated and our engineering support remains robust in demanding 24/7 AWS and on-premise environments.I continue learning to leverage AI, DIY building projects, training in martial arts, and reading parenting and personal development books.
