I taught full-time for twenty-seven years as a university professor, focusing on creative writing, literary seminars for writers, and literature courses. I am an award-winning author of five books, a novelist, short story writer, poet, and essayist. My awards include a Guggenheim fellowship, a residency at the Rockefeller Bellagio Center, a grant from Creative Capital, and a Whiting Writers’ award. I taught as a full-time professor for twenty-seven years and have taught for numerous workshops, including Sewanee Writers Conference, Summer Literary Seminars, Farafina, Kimbilio, Kwani, and the Zora Neal’s Hurston/Richard Wright Foundation. Experienced Professor Of English with a demonstrated history of working in the higher education industry. I was the founder of the Pan African Literary Forum, a nonprofit and NGO that staged an international writers’ workshop in Ghana. Skilled in Editing, Creative Writing, Grant Writing, Event Planning, arts organization management, and Literature.
