I am proud to be a part of Tim Olimpiade Biologi Indonesia (TOBI) or the Indonesian Biology Olympiad Team. Participating in TOBI’s national training and later representing Indonesia at the International Biology Olympiad (IBO) has been a transformative experience that deepened my passion for biology. Building on these experiences, I am now excited to give back to the community by contributing exam questions for the national science olympiad and creating educational YouTube videos to help fellow students prepare for this challenging competition.

ABOUT JEFFERSON FILBERT TJOENARDI
I’m a 4th-year undergraduate at the University of Toronto, double majoring in Cell & Molecular Biology (focused on Stem Cell & Developmental Biology) and Fundamentals of Genetics & Its Applications, with a minor in Physiology. With a 3.97/4.00 GPA, I’ve been recognized on the Dean’s List, received the Chancellor’s Scholarship, and the University of Toronto Excellence Award. I\'m also a proud recipient of the prestigious Indonesia Maju Scholarship. My passion for research has driven me to pursue hands-on experiences across cutting-edge labs and diverse field settings. • At the Tropepe Lab, I worked on zebrafish models to explore the pathogenesis of retinopathy in Usher syndrome. • I\'m currently interning at the Nagy Lab, where I’m helping to characterize a novel gene transfer platform through cell-to-cell fusion. • I also gained ecological fieldwork experience through the FREED Program, and collaborated on in silico synthetic biology projects through the iGEM Indonesian League. I’m deeply curious about stem cells, developmental biology, and how these fields can be translated into clinical applications. My long-term goal is to pursue a PhD and build a career in academic research. 🦋 Outside the lab, I enjoy hiking and identifying birds, plants, and insects along the way. I’m also fascinated by evolutionary biology and arthropod phylogeny, and collect insect specimens as a hobby.
