About Jeff Cantara
I’m a sustainability consultant and advocate for appropriate technology and decentralization at both the macro and micro scale. I study the way energy moves through systems and I develop ways to capture both financial and societal value from that flow. I’ve had a front-row seat during the explosion of both local food production and renewable energy expansion in New England. My training as a terrestrial ecologist and spatial analyst allows me to discern patterns and to identify strengths and weaknesses within these systems. I build resilience in the sustainable agriculture and distributed energy marketplaces in Massachusetts, Maine and New Hampshire. As a PV designer and agricultural advisor, I work with ReVision Energy, a Certified B Corp, to bring clean energy to farms on the NH Seacoast through my program, the Seacoast Solar Harvest Initiative. I also work on the residential and light-commercial scale to foster whole house/whole business energy solutions ranging from passive solar design and intensive organic food production to 99kW and under grid-tied PV arrays. I’m always looking for new and meaningful ways to bring my background in ecology, sustainable agriculture and renewable energy together.
