   Perform a variety of operational, maintenance, repair, safety, security and public information activities in support of the Pillar Point Harbor facility. As the first point of contact with the public, the Deputy Harbormaster is responsible for ensuring the public’s safe and enjoyable facility use.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS• Direct and participate in search, rescue,(CPR) and first aid activities on the waters adjacent to the Harbor and on the Harbor property.• Establish and carry out programs of fire prevention and protection of Harbor facilities andboats berthed at the Harbor & fight vessel fires.• As part of a team, make harbor and open water searches and rescues, monitor emergency callradio channels; operate a variety of electronic equipment for locating vessels; locate and guidevessels back to the harbor; rescue personnel from foundering or sunken vessels; notify otherappropriate rescue and emergency personnel.• Enforce the Harbor District Ordinance Code, and other rules, regulations & laws governing facility activities.• Patrol facility, docks, piers, vessels, buildings & shops to assure proper security and safety.• Inspect vessels for seaworthiness and proper mooring or docking.• Monitor weather and sea conditions and advise the public concerning the safe use of the facilities.• Maintain a daily log of weather conditions, work performed and significant incidents.• Inspect and perform repairs on all District facilities and property.• Perform preventative maintenance and minor repair work on navigational buoys, lights & horns; monitor all equipment for proper operation.• Operate rubber and solid hull craft in inspection, vessel transfer & enforcement activities.• Assign mooring and berthing spaces.• Prepare berthing lease documents.• General facility upkeep.• General landscaping.• Provides information to facility users.• Assist in coordination or staffing of special events held at the Harbor.
