Jeff Unsicker

About Jeff Unsicker

Jeff was a member of the faculty and an academic dean during a 26 year career at the SIT Graduate Institute. During that time, he led the development of a comprehensive curriculum in policy advocacy, including courses, professional practica, and capstone research options for graduate students in both Vermont and Washington, DC. He was also a community leader and strategy planner in an advocacy campaign that closed Vermont\'s nuclear power reactor. Following retirement, Jeff taught policy advocacy courses in the University of San Diego\'s M.A. in Nonprofit Leadership and Management. He continues to practice in the field, both as an advocate and consultant. Among the organizations with which he has consulted are the Advocacy and Social Change Unit of BRAC (Bangladesh), Oxfam America, EarthRights International, Center for Constitutional Rights, and Vital Voices. His teaching, activism and consulting were the basis for his book, Confronting Power: The Practice of Policy Advocacy, and other publications.
