ABOUT JEFF RICKMAN

I am an experienced legal advisor and senior executive currently serving as Chief Legal Officer for the Georgia Department of Public Health, where I also act as Executive Lead for the Division of Workforce Management. In this role, I provide legal counsel to the Commissioner and Department leadership, and manage a team of attorneys that respond to the Department’s open records and public health information requests, manage privacy and compliance matters, and coordinate litigation with the Georgia Attorney General’s Office.Previously, I served as Executive Director of the Georgia State Health Benefit Plan, a $3.2 billion self-insured health plan covering approximately lives. In that role, I developed and presented the benefit strategy and plan designs to the Board of Community Health annually, in addition to managing the daily operations of a division consisting of approximately 50 staff.My legal practice has focused on employee benefits and ERISA, with experience in employment and appellate law. I bring a solution-oriented approach to legal and risk management issues, shaped by years of navigating evolving healthcare and workforce laws across both the public and private sectors.
