About Jeff Galle
Teacher, writer, faculty developer, administrator. With leadership experience in public and in private higher education, I enjoy working with people in a wide range of settings on projects that enhance student learning in the disciplines, retention, and completion. From founding a teaching center at Emory to developing a system wide program of faculty learning communities, I have worked on successful projects with system and institutional executives as well as faculty across the disciplines. Most importantly, my classroom experiences from 30+ years of teaching have led to multiple discoveries of best practices and also to lifelong relationships with my students and fellow teachers. My books are collaborative efforts with leading faculty, deans and provosts, as well as student success leaders. Currently under contract: Putting it all Together: Creating and Scaling Excellent Learning Within the Disciplines (anticipated publication August 2023) Most recent books: Faculty Learning Communities: Chancellor’s Learning Scholars for Student Success (2021), Campus Conversations: Student Success Pedagogies in Practice (20••••19 chapter:\'Redesign to Empower Students in the Classroom and at Scale\' by Jeffery Galle. Combining the knowledge of the discipline with innovative teaching strategies makes possible the deeper learning so fundamental to success. Faculty acquire vast learning within their chosen discipline, and when they also acquire a like depth of knowledge and skill in offering their disciplinary knowledge to their students, they can become master teachers. In doing the work within teaching and learning, teachers invite students to learn the discipline and to become lifelong learners.
