Jeff Clements is the founder and CEO at American Promise, a fast-growing, cross-partisan network of Americans working locally and nationally to win the next Amendment to the US Constitution so that citizens, not money, govern He is an attorney and author. His work has appeared in Fox News, The Bulwark, The New York Times, US News & World Report, The Boston Globe, Salon, The Hill, MSNBC, Harvard Law & Policy Review, and many others. Jeff is a frequent speaker, and has inspired and engaged national and local audiences around the country. In addition to his work with American Promise, Jeff is Managing Partner of Whaleback Partners, LLC, which invests in entrepreneurial businesses building a sustainable local food economy. He co-founded Whaleback Partners in 2012.An attorney, he has been a partner in the Boston law firm of Mintz Levin, and in his own firm. He also has practiced in Portland, Maine. In public service, Jeff served as Assistant Attorney General and Chief of the Public Protection & Advocacy Bureau in the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office from early 2007 to 2009. As Bureau Chief, he led more than 100 attorneys and staff in law enforcement and litigation in the areas of civil rights, environmental protection, healthcare, insurance and financial services, antitrust and consumer protection. Jeff also served as an Assistant Attorney General in Massachusetts from 1996 to where he worked on litigation against the tobacco industry and handled a wide range of other investigations and litigation to enforce unfair trade practice, consumer protection and antitrust laws.
