Southern California native Jeff Anderson probably should have gone to Silicon Valley to start a tech company back in 2003, but instead he decided to let two loves keep him in San Diego – his then girlfriend (now wife) and the travel industry (not as hot as his wife, but still a good time). During his college years, Jeff focused his time competing in intercollegiate debate and became one of the top NPDA debaters in the nation (yep, nerd alert). After graduating, when most travel agencies were closing their doors, Anderson decided it was a great time to enter the family business. With the internet rapidly changing the retail travel industry, Jeff saw the opportunity to expand the family business far beyond its roots in California. In growing the company, Jeff has worked in or been part of creating nearly every department at Avoya Travel and has a deep understanding of not only what’s being done, but how it’s done and who’s making the magic happen. His hands-on approach has helped take the company from $30 million in leisure sales in 2003 to over $400 million. In 2016, Jeff was received the Travvy Award for “Most Innovative Executive” in the Travel Agency category and in 2019 accepted the CLIA Hall of Fame Award for Avoya Travel. But who’s he trying to impress? After a nearly-fatal accident in 2015, Jeff’s been given an opportunity to re-process life. While he remains passionate and energized about future business potential, it’s not just what he’s doing, but why he’s doing it that guides his decisions and the people-focused life he wants to pursue. Jeff’s been blessed with an amazing wife and two sons, a cool church family, and a rad work family.
